Throughout Israel’s history, its growth and success has been attributed to visionary pioneers, thought leaders and social entrepreneurs who have built the Jewish state over the past century. Today, MAKOM embodies the ideals and values of the early Israeli pioneers while forging their own legacy, actively working to address the challenges facing Israeli society and create sustainable solutions to ensure a strong future for the State of Israel and all its residents.
MAKOM is the council of mission driven communities in Israel, working to strengthen the social fabric of the country and support the mutual socioeconomic growth of Israeli society throughout the social and geographic periphery. MAKOM is the umbrella network for 14 community based organizations that permeate every sector of Israeli society, with over 240 communities that span across all ethnic, ideological, religious and social denominations. Although each of these communities have their own unique identity and area of focus, they share a socially conscious and collective mission to meet the challenges of Israeli society today to ensure a stronger future for all of Israel’s residents. As the largest social entrepreneurial organization in Israel, MAKOM brings these communities together to share knowledge, collaborate on initiatives, create dialogue amongst diverse populations and work together to promote sustainable socioeconomic growth.
